I definitely need a swayback adjustment, and possibly a smaller bodice size. I'll see how it fits once it comes out of the dryer. I attached the neckline binding, but just turned the sleeve hems over and stitched them down.
If you're making this out of a twin flat sheet, save your sanity and buy the fitted sheet or pillowcases as well. This might be the one instance where it's less fiddly than fussy cutting the top sheet.
I can sew, but still haven't made a dress for myself. I make dresses for my girl because it is easy, but haven't made one for me. It's about time and I want to shop for some fabrics. Lovely red dress.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I make almost everything from thrift store sheets, which I recommend. It conserves resources, and you can get about 2.5 yards of fabric for 3 USD. I recommend looking at kids sheets for cute patterns and checking the labels for 100% cotton. There are lots of sheets with polyester, which I find to be too scratchy for clothing and washing it pollutes the oceans.
